Activity 12 — Kill Your Favourite Idea

Time: about 50 minutes. Submit: online text.

Part A — Run the exercise. Take the concept you have developed since Lesson 2. Name the element you are most attached to, declare it unavailable, and generate ten alternatives. Push past the first three, which will be sulky variations on the dead idea.

Part B — Compare. Put the best two alternatives beside the original and score all three against what you are trying to achieve, not against your affection for them.

Part C — Decide. Keep, switch, or keep-and-change using something the alternatives revealed. Write your reasoning.

Part D — Principle or habit. List five things about how you work that you would resist changing. Sort each: if it changed, would your purpose still be served? Report how many turned out to be habits.

Part E — Update condition. Write one update condition for something you are currently doing — a number and a date that would tell you to change approach.
