Follow these steps to install, create, and secure your Phantom wallet.
⚠️ Pay extra attention to the secret recovery phrase – it's the only way to access your funds. No recovery. No support. Keep it safe.
1. Go to the official site
- 🌐 Type phantom.app directly into your browser address bar.
- 🚫 Don't click ads or Google results – fake sites can steal your funds.
2. Install the extension
- 🖱️ Click “Download” → “Add to Chrome”.
- ✅ Approve the permissions popup – it's normal and required.
- 👻 A ghost icon appears in your browser toolbar – click it to open Phantom.
3. Create a new wallet
- ➕ Click “Create a new wallet”.
- 🔑 Set a strong password – this locks the extension on your device.
- 📝 Write your password down somewhere physical (not on your computer).
4. Secret recovery phrase – YOUR wallet
- 🔢 12 words = full control of your wallet. No one else has them.
- 📄 Write them on paper – right now. No screenshots, no digital notes, no cloud.
- 🚨 If you lose them, there's no customer support and no recovery. Keep two paper copies in safe places.

5. Connect to a dApp
- 🌐 Go to any crypto app (dApp) like jupiter.ag or a marketplace.
- 🔘 Click “Connect Wallet” → select Phantom.
- 👁️ Phantom asks permission – the app can see your address and balance only (not move funds).
- 🔒 Any real transaction (swap, purchase) will trigger a separate approval popup – always read it carefully.
6. Four rules to stay safe
- 🔐 Never type your seed phrase online – not in forms, chats, or to “support”. Phantom will never ask.
- 🏠 Only install Phantom from phantom.app – fake extensions exist and look identical.
- 🔒 Lock your wallet when done (gear icon → Lock), especially on shared computers.
- 🚫 “Connect Wallet” = safe. But if you see an unsolicited transaction popup – close it immediately.
