Before developing a solution, it is important to understand the problem, the people affected by it, and the conditions that allow it to continue.

In this forum, you will create a short Problem Snapshot based on the local social problem you have explored throughout the course.

In your post, address the following points:

  1. Social problem: Describe the problem in one clear sentence.
  2. Why it matters: Explain why the problem needs attention.
  3. People most affected: Identify who experiences its greatest effects.
  4. Stakeholders with influence: Identify the institutions, organizations, groups, or decision-makers that can influence the problem.
  5. Possible contributors to change: Explain who could help address it.
  6. Underlying cause or barrier: Identify one important condition that allows the problem to continue.
  7. Missing voice or perspective: Consider whose experiences, opinions, or needs might be overlooked.

Keep your post clear and specific, using approximately 100–150 words.

After publishing your Problem Snapshot, read other students`’ contributions and reply to two other posts. In each reply, provide a constructive contribution by:

  • Identifying another stakeholder or missing perspective;
  • Asking a question that could help clarify the problem; or
  • Suggesting another cause or barrier that should be considered.

Your replies should help other students examine their problems from a broader perspective. Focus on understanding and clarifying the problem rather than proposing a complete solution at this stage.
