Getting Honest Feedback

Lesson 5. Use these instead of "do you like it?"

  • Silence first. Hand it over, say nothing, count to ten. What they do tells you more than what they say.
  • "Tell me what you think this is." If they cannot say it back, the premise has failed.
  • "When would you use this?" A concrete situation means it registered.
  • "What would stop you?" Gives permission to object.
  • Watch behaviour, not opinion.

And when they misunderstand: write it down, do not explain. The misunderstanding is the finding.

My AI policy

1. What role does AI play in my work? ________________________
2. Will I disclose it, and how? ________________________
3. Who is the author? ________________________
4. What will I never use it for? ________________________

Test: can I explain how this came to exist? If not, I produced something rather than made something.
