Activity 5 — The Paper Prototype

Time: about 90 minutes. Submit: photos of your cards plus written notes.

Part A — Name the question. What is the one thing you need to find out that thinking alone cannot answer? Write it before you make anything.

Part B — Make six cards. Follow the exercise from the lesson — artwork sketched on the front; title, three characteristics with what each means, and one sentence of story on the back. Two common, three uncommon, one rare, with rarity that means something. Photograph them.

Part C — Show them to two people. No explanation. Ask only "tell me what you think this is." Write down which card they picked up first, their exact words, and where they misunderstood.

Do not skip this part. It is the most valuable thirty minutes in the course, and it is the part people most often replace with imagining what someone would say.

Part D — What changes. Three sentences: what surprised you, and what would you change?

Part E — Your AI policy. Four sentences: what role AI plays in your work, whether you would disclose it, who the author is, and what you would never use it for.

Drawing skill is not being assessed. Stick figures are fine.
