Section outline

    • Sixty years of research has dismantled almost everything people believe about who is creative, from the myth that intelligence predicts it to the belief that it belongs to the arts. This page introduces Rhodes's 4Ps — person, process, press and product — and the five discovery skills that separate people who produce ideas from people who wait for them.

    • Creativity is a practice with identifiable conditions, not a trait you were either born with or not — and only one of the eight kinds of creative contribution involves drawing. You will find which kinds are yours, write a profile of what you bring to a team, and choose the social issue you will work with for the rest of the course.
